Mondhaut [Moon Skin]
DVD-video, sound; 8:20 min.
Poem “Traum” by Olaf Schmidt
Tallinn, January 2007
(new cut: June 2013)
A poem letter from of a very near and very far away friend is written onto the skin - the eye of the videocamera reads it aloud past a trail of fluids, creams, (trimmed) hair, saliva and skin powder.
The original intention of the text speaks of longing, in a platonic and playful manner. I didn’t read it that way.
The translation of the German-language poem can be read as follows:
DREAM
Covering the smiling moon tonight, a ball of wad, white and fluffy ...
and this is my little cloud on which I am working -
I hear you whispering quietly ...
Thanks to Aura Angervo, A.N. and O.S.
